A structured athlete pathway has been designed for our swimmers to progress to the competitive level based on 3 distinct groups.
Building the skill and technique
Training to train and compete
Training to win
Cadet (7 years & above)
All swimmers within the Cadets must be able to legally swim each of the four competitive strokes. The focus is building the technical aspect of swimming through fun and engaging drills. The programme aims to further develop the four competitive strokes; and introduce essential competitive skills and rules to our swimmers. In addition, swimmers will also learn complimentary skills such as reading times and intervals off the pace clock and counting strokes for efficient swimming.
Azure (12 yrs and Under)
Upon graduating from the Cadets, our swimmers will then progress to the transition squad known as the Azures. Although no specialisation will be undertaken during this segment of training, the swimmers will be exposed to a more profound training programme to further develop their technique and skills in the four competitive strokes through kicking and drills. Consistent practice attendance is necessary for continued improvement and advancement to the next group.
At AquaTech, we believe that education is essential in providing our swimmers with the necessary skills to compete at the elite level. Thus, our coaches will also impart fundamental strength and conditioning work, mental training skills, nutrition and recovery to fully maximise their performance.
We also firmly believe in TEAM work. Together Everyone Achieves More!
Imperial (13 years and above)
The pinnacle level where all swimmers should aim for!
In this group, swimmers will be expected to understand interval training and will learn how to train at different effort levels, speeds and energy systems. There will also be a greater emphasis on race strategies. While the Imperial programme is designed to train swimmers from 13 years onwards, not all swimmers will train together. The groups are based on age-group classification and training needs. The Imperials are exposed to a heavy training regime which encompasses further development of the energy systems, specialised programmes, highly intensive strength and conditioning work, and profound nutrition plans.
The Imperials represent the final step in the AquaTech age group programme. They are passionate and committed swimmers aiming to create success in the pool driven by our 4 core values: Passion, Growth, Balance, and Excellence.
At AquaTech, we are proud to have produced champions who have represented Singapore in various International and Regional Competitions.
